Pretty in Pink

This side buttoning light weight cotton sundress in a delicate mauve floral has lace panels down the front giving it some extra interest. The lightly gathered skirt has elastic to cinch in the waist without feeling restricting, perfect for those hot summer days. To compliment the retro feel of this design I've teamed it with a cute patent look belt with little polka dots.

Fash n Treasure this Saturday 27 November!

I can't wait!! The third Fashion market for 2010 is on this Saturday at the Old Bus Depot buildings in Kingston, ACT from 10am till 3pm. All sorts of fashion goodies, designers, vintage, pre-loved....it's all going to be there!

I'll be there again to show my latest little creations. I've been busy making lots of new bags and plenty of separates with a couple of new dresses too. If you haven't been before, do yourself a favour and come along. You won't be disappointed!!

I've made some new bags which are ideal for the beach. They are machine washable with water resistant lining, perfect for damp swimmers! The large tote has an insulated lining so your little goodies won't fry!

More separates

Summer separates

Simple lines plus breathable fabrics and a little embellishment...what more do you need for a casual summer's day?

Separates are always great for casual days at the beach or by the pool.

Cuffed shorts are big this summer as are wrap skirts, it's up to you whether you have them short or longer...

Tank tops and mini dresses are great over swimmers.....unfortunately for me, the old body looks a little odd in the mini dress, but one can always reminisce! I love summer!

Back at work!

After taking some time off the designing I've decided to get back to basics with some more handbags and accessories. Unfortunately I've had a couple of weeks flat on my back with the flu which I can say was no fun at all!! I'm a little behind schedule but none the less making some progress.

Today I finished off a lovely black shoulder bag with an interesting textured yoke, double straps and zip top opening.

I also made a rather nice clutch using a synthetic straw fabric, a bit of a challenge but I'm happy with the end result.

My next job at hand is making myself something to wear! I've been so busy creating for others, I seem to have forgotten myself!

Busy little fingers!

I've been taking a break from regular designing (sort of) and making some little accessories for Melbourne Cup day. Hair bands, brooches and wrist corsages are all the rage with tulle and lace in abundance!

The top pic doesn't quite show the detail. Very elegant black silk taffeta flower with a tulle centre on a pin at the back making it sit nice and flat on your dress. The bow, a lovely wrist corsage, is in gorgeous black velvet with a cute diamante feature giving it some extra pizazz.

Both hair bands have a metal band which has been wound with black stain ribbon for a little extra pop. The black one is quite exquisite in lace and tulle while the other features a bold floral.

The 2 little rosettes are both brooches with pin backs (rather than traditional brooch backs) to make them sit flat and not flop down as some brooches tend to do. (Besides I didn't want to buy new brooch backs!)

All in all very feminine and tres chic darling!

Back of house fun and smiles

Some snapshots from back of house at the "Re-Loved: Re-Vamped" fashion event held Thursday 30 September in the gallery of Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre. What a great night it was; a full house and loads of fun. The middle pic features fellow designer Lisa Barrett (Tango & James) with models wearing her collection.

What a night!

Thursday 30 September 2010. It was a full house at the gallery of Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre as Re-Loved Creations presented their 2010 fashion event, "Re-Loved: Re-Vamped". This is the third event of this kind that we have put on and it was most definitely our best yet.

The patrons were treated to fabulous fashions and wonderful swing and jazz mixed with a modern twist by our very talented DJ Shayne Cummins. Our designers' collections were just gorgeous!

For now, I have included some pics from our photo shoot. I'll post more pics soon. Enjoy.

ONLY ONE MORE SLEEP!!

Finally parade day is almost here! Tomorrow evening will see the culmination of months of planning, organising, designing and sewing....not to mention sleepless nights dreaming....in a fashion event to remember.

I can't think of a time that was more anticipated in our household. It's truly been a family affair with both daughters involved....Lee as Event Manager and general whip-cracker and Kristi as our house model... and my ever-patient hubby Ron also lending a hand (and often a shoulder to cry on) in this great adventure. And what an adventure it's been!

We started planning our parade late last year and slowly but surely it's taken shape and promises to be our best yet. I hope I get a little sleep tonight!! I just can't wait!!!!

Busy time....only days to go!

Our parade is only a few days away! EEK!! As if I don't have enough to contend with I decided my collection wasn't quite complete, so what to do? Simple make more menswear! No pics yet though. I do have some gorgeous pics of my daughter Kristi taken at the Botanic Gardens photo shoot. I'm really happy with them. Of course Kristi looks divine! (and I'm not biased at all!) Wish I had those legs!! I can just hear her now, "Oh mum!! Stop embarrassing me!"

LBD with lace top

Yet another LBD? This dress has some interesting features. The baby doll style bodice has lace above the bustline and slightly cut-away back and ruching at the sides. The very feminine stretch jersey skirt has a twist in the front giving the hemline extra pop.

It's red!

This is the first red jacket I've made this year but judging by the finished product maybe not the last. I just love it! The fiery colour is one thing, the cute printed lining is quite another. This little bolero has a nice curved front that almost meets, sweeping down the sides to high waist level at the back. There are strong tucks at the shoulder head of the elbow-length fitted sleeve. Looks great over the black dress!

There's more!

This lovely cropped jacket in 80% wool blend has an interesting batwing sleeve, contrast trim and back tab to cinch in the waist (not shown here).

Kristi is wearing a cute 100% cotton halterneck dress which has contrasting yoke and hem details. The rosette brooch is in the same contrasting fabric.

The natural raw linen shoulder bag has a pleated detail and braided leather strap. Inside is fully lined with a pocket included.

The black leather bag has a bold chunky clasp to secure the strap. Inside is lined in a bold multi-colour print and has a zippered pocket included.

The little tri-fold leather purse is a real treasure! The ostrich leather is superbly off-set with the black cow hide. The strap is also leather. Inside has a leather card holder, zip pocket and an extra pocket which will hold a passport, cellphone and small camera. How's that for roomy!

Lovely leather

Some of my leather handbags. The white tote is a favourite of mine. I love the striking orange trim and handles. It's fully lined, has a dividing zippered pocket with extra pockets for makeup and cellphone, just what every girl needs!
Georgina is sporting one of my oversized clutches with detachable strap. Also fully lined it has a small zip pocket inside. Note the halterneck jumpsuit! Very retro and super cute!

The red bag is another oversized clutch in gorgeous soft suede. The grey shoulder bag is fully lined, zip pocket included, with lots of room for all the essentials and has a snap on the closure belt for extra security. The little black purse, in very soft leather, is fully lined with a small leather trimmed zip pocket inside.

Sneaky peek: Re-Loved: Re-Vamped event

Here's another little taste of my collection. This gorgeous little number has a silk taffeta body with a lace overlay on the bodice. The cute little buttons go all the way to the bubble hem. Wait till you see it in the flesh! Photos just don't do it justice. The clutch is a little bit of bling with lots of surprises. A fully lined 3 fold purse in black mesh with a lovely diamante feature, it includes a zippered internal purse plus mirror and extra pockets. To top off the look there is a wrist corsage in white tulle and organza ribbon on a black band....nice

ANU Sustainable Careers Expo

On Wednesday I was one of 3 designers who presented collections at the Sustainable Careers Expo held at the Australian National University (ANU to us locals). We are promoting sustainability in the fashion industry as well as the recycling cause in general. All garments and accessories were created from reclaimed, upcycled and recycled materials.

Finally! A sneaky peek.....

It's been a busy time but I have finally got something to show off. These are just a couple of the new line of menswear I'm making. How funny it was when I saw something very similar on the runway of Giorgio Armani's S/S 2010 collection! Ha! just goes to show, he has taste too!
The hoodie has a charcoal contrast inset across the chest while the T shirt has contrast panels across the sleeves and shoulders.
