How to go from season to season with the same styles

This beautiful kimono jacket style translates very easily to winter-weight fabric. Be the first to pre-order yours in fabulous Japanese pure wool. Available in hot pink, mustard for those wanting lots of colour, or charcoal pinstripe for a more subdued look. It can also be made with contrasting cuffs or a longer sleeve.
The coveted Layer Top will now be available in a variety of fabrics, colours and lengths. Let your imagination soar!
This beautiful style with front pleat and origami pocket looks just as beautiful as a winter shift with a long sleeve top under and jacket on top.

Do you want to learn how to sew?

Sewing is a very handy skill to possess. Learning to sew is not as difficult as you might imagine. It's all about mastering the basics.

In the coming months Hanny-d will be introducing sewing classes teaching basic techniques that will enable even the most inexperienced to create something of their very own. Classes will be kept to small groups no more than 4 at a time. Individual classes can also be arranged by appointment.

What will I receive?
Beginners will receive instruction and guidance to learn all the basic skills of using a sewing machine. This will include making samples of seams, hems, zippers and buttonholes.  By the end of the course beginners will have learned how to read and cut out a pattern correctly and all the steps required to create a very simple item of their own. This could be anything from home wares to clothing and handbags....the choice is yours.

Those with intermediate skill levels will receive more advanced tuition in a variety of areas such as learning how to get a good fit and how to do simple alterations. If you already have these skills but feel you need a refresher course that's quite OK. Come along, you might pick up some helpful hints!

What do I need to start?
All you need to start is your sewing machine, thread scissors, some basic attachments such as a zig-zag foot, zipper foot, buttonhole attachment and thread in black or white. It would also be a good idea to bring a spare pack of sewing machine needles (Universal type). I will provide everything else including odd buttons, zippers and fabric.

What will it cost?
Six week Beginner Course      $160
Ten week Beginner Course         $250
Single/casual class                       $40

FASHFEST HIGHLIGHTS

The colour palette was bold and bright hot pink and gorgeous orange teamed with a geometric print, black and white "Fireworks" print as well as classic black and white.

Above: Emily B wears this outfit so well. The hot pink kimono is clashed with the orange obi belt and tied in with the bold colours of the shorts print.

The result is stunning!

Above:  The geometric print dress Chelsea is wearing here with black contrasts features a dropped waist and Origami flap on the front. You can just get a glimpse of the black tote bag. 100% re-purposed materials were used to create this beauty in mesh and leather.

Above:  Alice is wearing a classic shift with a distinctive modern feel. The contrast in the skirt provides real impact.

Above: Barb is wearing a gorgeous black linen shift that has a flap over the right bodice, the lining of which is in orange contrast to match the hem. Her purse is once again made from re-purposed materials: black mesh that is actually shadecloth, 4-braid handmade strap with chunky gold chain details.

Above:  Emily V looks stunning in black and white linen. The Origami dress has a pocket inside the flap on the right side of the front. The tote bag is again in re-purposed shadecloth, this time in black and white.

Above:  The back view of Charne in her Chevron short and layer top looks as good as the front shot!

Above: Lara is wearing the black linen Origami skirt with a little white shell top and carrying a large tote in orange and white

Above: Ilana rocks in classic black linen....Shell top with black and white contrast yoke, shorts with a separate overskirt that's open at the front. Her handbag in black and white shadecloth has a leather detail on the closure strap.

Above:  Melissa looks oh so hot in pink. The classic shift has a flattering Aline cut that skims over the hips beautifully.

....and then there was the finale.....with Hanny thanking the crowd with gusto!

What a Night! Hanny-d Creations goes off at FASHFEST 2014

Here are two of the looks in our "Now and Then" collection that rocked the catwalk on Friday 2 May in Hanny-d's Fashfest debut. The venue was a raw unfinished building at the award winning Canberra Airport precinct. The weather was in one word FREEZING but the fashions were HOT HOT HOT!

Hanny-d's FASHFEST Debut is TONIGHT 2 May - a little peek at handbags

This medium to large tote bag has real character. Made entirely of re-purposed material, the body shell is black mesh (yes it's shadecloth!) with a gorgeous black leather contrast and flap with a magnetic clasp, the straps are vinyl with cute chrome buckles. It has a very smart black and white stripe lining with an internal pocket and reinforced removable base plate.

Another medium to large tote, once again with nylon mesh for the shell - this time in timeless black and white. The vinyl straps also have white stitching. There is a large outer pocket on one side and an internal pocket as well. The lining is a gorgeous cream and black stylised floral print. This tote also has a removable base plate. All materials used in this bag have been re-purposed...right down to the magnetic clasp holding the top together.

Here we have a large tote in white mesh with a stunning contrast in burnt orange and white geometric print. The handles are of plastic tubing with chrome studs, there is a magnetic clasp to hold it together with an over-sized chunky chrome lobster clasp to finish it off. Once again all materials used here have been re-purposed
